Boots!

Boots is a wonderfully sweet 10 year old lab mix who was almost euthanized because her owner could no longer care for her.  NOLA Lab Rescue has graciously offered to take her into their rescue program if funds are received for her heartworm treatment.  We have received an outpouring of people who want to help and
funds are needed at this time!  Below is her original story from the vet technician that pleaded for her to have a second a chance....

"Today, I met a very sweet, terrified senior baby that was coming in to be euthanized by her owner.  When I walked into the room expecting to see a sickly dog (as that is what our normal euthanasias are), I saw a happy energetic baby with no other apparent issues other than a flea allergy and an owner that was visibly distraught.  After speaking to him further, he has been working offshore for months at a time and is no longer able to care for her.  After seeking the help of family and friends, his only option was to humanely euthanize her rather than to let her suffer outside in the backyard hoping that the people he entrusted to care for her actually did (which they didn't).  I could see the pain in his eyes; his eyes were red and puffy and he had a hard time keeping his composure. I saw the terror in her eyes as if she knew what was about to happen... I had to walk out the room and excuse myself while I bursted into tears, as I could not bear to euthanise this dog for nothing she did wrong and no medical reason.  I have an absolutely amazing boss and Veterinarian who came to see if I was ok and offered to keep this sweetheart at our clinic for the weekend to give time to see if a rescue can be found!"

If you would, please take the time to donate to give this girl the second chance she deserves!  All you have to do is click the "donate" button.  Donations are tax deductible!
